Why We Poker??

Why do we play poker? Each person have their own reason but here are a few answers that may cover the board.

1. FOR THE MONEY…
The two fundamental essentials for playing poker are cards and chips. The cards have no value, except for what they are worth in the game, but the chips can have monetary value. The ability to win or lose chips that have monetary value provides a reason for why people play poker. The idea that I can sit down in a cash game and turn a $100 buy-in into thousands of dollars or for higher limits thousands of dollars into tens of thousands is great. Same concept goes with poker tournaments. Players buy-in for a minimal amounts of money for a chance to win a top covenant prize. In the World Series of Poker a $10,000 buy-in enable players to win millions. For the money is a reason why people play poker.

2. FOR THE INTELLECTUAL CHALLENGE…
Poker is game, a mentally challenging game but a game nonetheless. We challenge ourselves, to challenge our opponents in to thinking what we want them to think or deciphering the code and determining what they have. Playing poker is a mental challenge on the mind. I have middle pair, is it good? Are they on a flush or straight draw? Do they have a set, better kicker, over pair… are all thought constantly going through the head of a player. But that what also make poker fun and a reason to play. Challenging your self versus your opponent in a mental battlefield each hand, the winner wins the money.

3. FOR THE HUMAN INTERACTION…
Poker rooms, casinos, card houses, house games and so forth, forces human interaction and draws peoples interest and the third reason why people play poker. When players sit down at a full poker table there are 9 to 10 other players at the table under a singular common theme; poker. This common theme allows players to grasp into other aspects of their lives; sports, family, political opinions, current events and so forth which create interactions. Humans thrive to interact and be social with one another and poker is a viable platform that people use to obtain such goal and a reason why we play.

4. FOR THE FUN…
Although poker is played for money, sometimes, it is still a game and games are fun. It is fun having the best hand and raking in a lot of chips. It is fun building a small stack to a larger stack, and it is fun making big hands in poker. Remember keep it that way… Keep poker a game of fun and not a game of stress and depression. Although there must be a loser in the game if there is a winner, but remember if we are able to play the game then we are winners in life.
